Our Greatest Weakness Lies In Giving Up.

Life is full of ups and downs. Whether you feel like you’ve made it or not, it’s crystal clear that life is full of challenges and sometimes, it gets too difficult that you can’t focus on achieving your goals. It was never meant to be easy, it’s a constant struggle. However much you try to put in the best of your efforts, it may end up smacking you back down with ruthless indifference.
So many people fail to achieve their goals, not because they lacked skills, neither is it that goals are too hard to be achieved. Most of them fail because they give up too soon. Were it not the persistence of Billy Gates in the development of Microsoft, do you think it could be existing today? Despite the ups and downs, starting from his education, business to politics. He never gave up. He was persistent in achieving his goals.
As I had said, most people fail just because they give up to soon. Why?
This is continuation on from the previous related posts. If you haven’t read them, please click the link below to follow:
1. Who are you?
2. How persistence affect you in life
3. Why you should be persistent

Today I want to put some insight on why people lack persistent.
Lack of persistence can simply means giving up on something, not going to the end. In other terms, allowing the force of “waters” to sink you.

Main reason why people lack persistence.
There are many established reasons considered as the backbone of lack of persistence, but the first of all is having a poor self-image. Self – image is the way a person feels about his or her personality, achievements and value to the society. Poor self-image therefore means having a negative view of oneself which usually arise from accumulated criticisms that a person collects in his life, setting unrealistic goals (goals that high above a reasonable and attainable level in a given time-frame) which leads to a constant failure thus constant disappointments, lack of faith that they are capable of doing great things or pulling off a great victory and lack of trust in one owns efforts and abilities and among others.
The second reason is Lack of interest to learn more and new skills. For the majority of problems we encounter in our personal or professional life are caused by lack of interest. The lack of interest to learn skills new skills from those who have made it takes away your zeal and the wish to live a life of your dreams. This maybe as a result of no emotional support from partners, little or no wages, lack of motivation at work or criticism from “failures.”
Undefined needs or wants is another ingredient of lack of persistence. Before you start creating a budget, spending your wages or setting any financial goal, we always have to define our needs and wants. A need is something that you require to survive while a want is that which can make your survival. In simple terms, a want that which is not necessary but desired or wished for. A good example of a good is a cloth and that of a want is a Lamborghini. Putting your wants before your needs makes life seem tough and that affecting your focus on achieving your goals.
Being a short-term thinker is another reason why you may end up giving up too soon. By this I mean, having a mind full of things that will last for a short time or things that will have an effect soon rather than a distant future. Success is not an overnight event. It is an event full of ups and down and expecting results at the very begin will only make your frustrated. Frustrations develop into negative thinking or having a poor self-image. Setting your goals to achieving profit as soon as possible translates your decisions into short term (i.e. looking for shortcuts). This leads to making poor decisions and choices.
No goal can be achieved without a strategic plan and a corresponding action. In his Book “How to Achieve Network Marketing Success” Victor Antonio says that every vision and inspiration needs a strategy to bring them into realty, to make them happen. He says, once you have found a great opportunity in network marketing, the next big thing is executing your plan. In this field you need to refer someone. Therefore, you have to know where to get them and how to get them. In doing so, you will have to understand the characteristics of those places, possible challenges and how to overcome them. This applies to all aspects in life. Before you achieve your goal, what path are you going to follow to reach there? In most cases, it’s not the strategic plans that fail, rather the actions taken to accomplish each goal is what fails. This happens due to over or under-estimation of time, resources and skills and the failure to follow your plans.

All the above reasons and many others including Procrastination, Blaming others, Wishing instead of willing, fear of criticism are just but a few of the reasons why people lack persistence and thus leading to failure.

Failures are part of life. If you don’t fail, you don’t learn. If you don’t learn, you’ll never change.

Franklin D. Roosevelt quotes, “When you come to the end of your rope, tie a knot and hang on it.”
